The setting sun sent red streaks the colour of blood trailing along the horizon, and the tall buildings that bordered the streets cast long shadows. It was such a personable city, nothing bland or cold to it. Something Tarou wasn't really used it.
Not many people roamed the streets, especially since it almost dark, but there was still a warm feeling to it, though it was probably just the stiffling humidity. And a pleasant buzz seemed to flow from the buildings. Tarou breathed in deeply through his nose, his mouth turned up in a smile and stretched his arms out over his head, fingers outstretched as if to swipe the red from the clouds.
He turned around when a girl giggled and a man's deep voice followed. A soft sigh was let out when the walked off into the distance without noticing him. He didn't feel like being stared at for stretching in the streets, not today anyways. Dark eyes looked up at the building from which the couple exited and arched a brow quizically. It was a random little cafe in the middle of the business section of town. He took a few catious steps toward the building, as if expecting a demented child to run out and tackle him to the ground. His boots sloshed in a stagnant puddle before he stepped out of the street and onto the sidewalk. Glancing down at his soaked shoe he scowled and shook out his foot comically before walking to the cafe's door. It looked quant, and quite for the most part. He placed a hand flat on the door and pushed it open.
A lyrical chime rang from the doorway as he stepped inside, and a woman's voice was heard from behind the counter. "Hallo!" The round little woman had a deutsch accent that combined with her round figure made a chuckle escape Tarou's lips. "Hello to yourself.." His tone was personable, and it hid the derision nicely.
"Can I just have a straight up black coffee?" He asked, his eyes still roaming over the confusing menu posted on the wall behind the woman. So many things to choose from. How did a person keep up with the names anyways? He shrugged to himself and placed a five on the counter and took his coffee without another word. A table in the corner of the room with all of it's coffee house glory seemed to be calling his name. He set the cup of steaming black liquid down on the table top after taking a quick sip. The drink scalded his tongue and burned as he swallowed, but it didn't phase him. Many things that pained normal people, had little to no affect on him.
The thought of this brought a deep throbbing to his shoulders and he pulled out the chair and sat down before the pain increased. This wasn't a normal pain, and it would've probably had a normal person out cold flat on the floor by now. Tarou closed his eyes and took a deep breath, clearing his mind. When his eyes fluttered open a few minutes later the pain was gone and all he could feel was the fabric of his clothes against his skin, and the back of the chair digging into his spine. He propped his feet up on the table, and glanced back at the small women behind the counter who was glaring at him disapprovingly. This mad a smirk tug at his lips and another chuckle bubble from his lips. He loved messing with people. It was just so much fun.

Finally, the sun had set which meant Reina would be able to leave the mini prison she liked to call her ‘home’. Only a month had passed since the young woman decided to leave the comforts of Okinawa and move to some place new. Why? She wanted to explore; wanted to go somewhere new, somewhere interesting and the first place that popped into her mind was London.
As she reminisced, she pinned the Lotus hairpin above her left ear. Being the simple girl that she was, it never took her too long to get ready for an outing, especially if she only planned to go out to feed. Hunting was the only reason why she ever left home seeing she had no friends here in London. Yet anyways. Perhaps tonight she’d finally muster up the strength to actually talk to someone without having the urge to suck them dry.
Taking one last look at herself in the tiny mirror, she brushed one of her light brown locks away from her face and gave herself a little wink. She turned on her heel and left the bathroom and began gathering her things into her bright orange purse. Phone; check. Mascara; check. Wallet; check. Mirror; check. All small things yet she felt the need to tote her items in an over sized purse. She was such a girl. Not wanting to waste anymore time in her little flat, she crossed the tiny living room and walked out, pulling the straps of her purse onto her right shoulder. She felt no need to lock her apartment door since there wasn’t much to steal inside anyways and besides, it sometimes felt as if she lived in the entire building alone since she rarely ever ran into any neighbors. As always, Rei used her vampiric speed to her advantage and dashed down the eight flights of stairs until she got to the very bottom before slowing down. She smiled softly to herself, amused by her little antics and exited the building, letting the cool air rush through her hair, pushing it back behind her shoulders. Again, the night wasn’t as cold as she had anticipated so wearing the sweater over her plain black tank top seemed like a waste. No matter, she looked cute regardless. She hoped so anyways. For a moment she stood at the building entrance, quietly thinking to herself where she could go. A club wasn’t an option since she was dressed too casually for it and as far as bars go, she hated being hounded by old horny men. The only other choice she had was a café and fortunately for her, there was one just a block away. Clutching her purse close to herself she turned herself to the right and made her way to the café, the soft little smile still tugging at the ends of her lips. Would dinner be easy to find tonight or would it for once be a challenge? Rei hoped for the latter. It had been sometime since a meal had excited her in any way. Hopefully… Soon enough she came across the quaint Café, her light brown eyes moving over the menu that she could see clearly through the window from where she stood. Curling her frigid digits around the handle of the door, she pulled it open and went straight for the counter. Even before she stepped in, she decided what she wanted. ”I’ll just have a vanilla latte please with some whipped cream.” The drink didn’t sound appealing to the young vampire at all but might as well get something while she was there and try to act as… ‘humanly’ as possible. Resting her palms against the counter top, she waited patiently as the workers hustle and bustled about to make her drink. She couldn’t help but turn around slightly to survey the patrons that occupied the room with her. Immediately the vampire’s eyes fell onto the young oriental man who had his feet propped up right on the table. He’s cute but doesn’t seem to have any manners. ”That’s rude you know…” she said in Japanese. Not once had the smile left the girl’s soft pink lips. ”Very rude.” she repeated but this time, in English. Turning herself completely to face him, she leaned back against the counter behind her.

Finally..
The sudden rush of humid air, and the door chime brought Tarou's eyes up from the tapletop and to the girl who walked into the small cafe. She seemed young, though not much younger then himself. His eyes roamed her petite figure and he let out a sigh before turning back to face the window infront of the table.
”That’s rude you know…”
Tarou knew the words were directed towards him, and he could see the girl out of the corner of his eye, but the thought popped into his head. Maybe I don't speak Japanese.. Ignore her.. She'll go away His face stayed blank of any emotions, especially the wry smile that threatened to draw up the corners of his mouth. The steaming cup of coffee was brought to his lips and he took a deep drink, letting the dark taste devour his tongue until all that was left was a stale and bitter taste after he swallowed. He wanted to look at her, to do a full frontal up and down with his eyes, but he had to keep his cover. Well, his ignorance was more like it.
”Very rude.”
As the english spilled from her mouth it became evident that he could no longer hold back the inevitable smile or the brief chuckle that followed it. "Well know that's more like it." Dropping his feet from the table, he twisted in the chair to face her, but his eyes didn't roam as he had expected them to. Though there was barely anything to roam over, since she was wearing a sweater, even when it was deathly humid and warm outside. Maybe she didn't get out too much, or watch the news.
"I know it was rude.. Can you ever forgive me?" He looked up at her and fluttered his eyelids and pouted sarcastically before turning away, a peal of laughter bubbling from his throat. What did he find so hilarious? Sometimes Tarou didn't even know.
He dug a hand into the pocket of his blazer and pulled out a worn box of cigarettes and a lighter. What went better with coffee than a good smoke? Sliding a single stick out of the carton he brought it to his lips and held it between them, not making an effort to light it. He let it dangle there as he waited for her to either slap him or walk away.

Judging by the man’s little retort, he must have only spoken English, not Japanese. Feeling a bit embarrassed with herself, Rei looked down towards the ground for a moment, feeling blood rise to her cheeks. Bringing her dainty hands in front of her, she fiddled with the end of her jacket, tugging nervously at the ends. Acting like an innocent child was something Reina was quite good at and when it came to getting what she wanted, it worked.
Hearing the ends of his chair scrape against the tile beneath it, she couldn’t help but look up at him, a crooked smile painted across her face. Unconsciously, her eyes moved over his face then down to the ends of his boots only to come back up again. She took note that the rude boy did have a good sense of style, which seemed to be rare to find in men nowadays.
Again, using her powers to her advantage, she took a moment to concentrate on the young boy’s almond eyes in an attempt to read his current thoughts. The act only took a matter of seconds and his thoughts made her crooked smile turn into a devious one. Turning her back to him once more, she retrieved the vanilla latte she nearly forgotten about, paid and turned back to face him with the cup of steaming liquid pressed between her frigid hands.
”Sure. I guess I can forgive you.” Without hesitation, she crossed the small amount of space that separated her and the chair that was set across the table from the boy Rei found quite interesting and took a seat but only after she placed her latte and purse on the table top so that she could slip out of her constricting sweater revealing more of herself to him.
Shooting him a little wink, she sunk into her chair, pressing her back against the cool wood behind her. She shook her head slightly and let out a slight giggle as a cancer stick was placed between his lips. ”Smoking is bad for you, ya know.” Not like she had any room to talk. She herself smoked every now and then but unlike him she couldn’t die from lung cancer or whatever other diseases smoking brought with it.
In an attempt to push any awkwardness between the two aside, she took a quick sip of her drink, grimacing slightly as the drink burnt the tip of her tongue. ”I’m Reina by the way. Reina Ayaku. How about yourself, mister?”

He felt guilty for embarrasing her, and his usual smile twisted into a frown. "I'm sorry.." He spoke in clean english. "I was just messing with you." This time he spoke in japanese, as if trying to make up for the red in her cheeks.
As she stared at him he felt a light brush against his concious, and a irritating buzz rang in his ears. It only disappeared when she broke eye contact. Well that was strange.. He shook his head as if to clear a mental fog and looked back at his coffee, which had now cooled.
He was a bit surprised when instead of walking away she removed her sweater and sat down across from him. His mouth fell open, almost loosing the cigarette perched between his lips and he raised a brow at her wink. What happened to her shy innocence that he had just witnessed? It had just seemed to vanish. His eyes drifted from her face and down to her cleavage. He couldn't stop them. Maybe it was just a male thing.
”Smoking is bad for you, ya know.”
He realized that he unconciously leaning forward in his seat and scowled. His closed his mouth and let his eyes fall to the tapletop.
Well ofcourse it was, but that didn't stop him from pulling the slim lighter from his back pocket and lightening the cigarette. He inhaled deeply and then moved the cigarette away as he exhaled, smoke pouring over his lips and curling into the air. "We're all gonna die eventually.." He shrugged casually and picked the coffee cup up, keeping the cigarette held tight between his pointer and middle finger. He scrunched his nose up in disgust as he swallowed the coffee. It was freezing. He set the cup down and pushed it to the side with the back of his hand.
”I’m Reina by the way. Reina Ayaku. How about yourself, mister?”
Such a dainty name, a name that suited her well. Free hand ran absently through the spikes splayed in a disarray atop his head and he took another drag on the cigarette. The red embers flared and dead ashes fell to the tabletop. Pulling the cigarette away a half smile tugged at his lips. Why was she still here? "My name is Tarou Daisuke. Though you can just call me Tarou." He looked into her slanted eyes and his smile widened. "So do you miss Japan?" His voice was warm and inviting. As if he was trying to lure her into some sort of trap.

Just as she had suspected before, he indeed was Japanese and the confirmation was a bit relieving. She never would have imagined running into another Japanese kid here in London especially since she had just moved here. Most of the kids back home in Okinawa spoke of going to the States rather than some place as close as England so she was under the impression that there wasn’t even a slight chance of running into someone of the same ethnicity as herself.
Her eyes couldn’t help but follow his own as they drifted from her face to something else. Boys… Unconsciously, she rolled her eyes a bit in amusement as he began leaning over the table as if to get a better look. Just for the hell of it, she placed her hands onto her lap, pressing her arms up against the sides of her breasts to push them closer together as she leant herself towards the table a tad to give him a little show.
Fighting a giggle that wanted to escape her pink lips, she watched intently as his eyes drifted away from her mounds and down to the tabletop. Her own eyes moved from his to the cigarette tucked between his lips, watching as it bounced about as he spoke. ”Not all of us are going to.” Die she meant. The words had slipped out of her before she even got a chance to think them over. Big mistake. It was a nasty habit of hers to speak before thinking. It typically got her in a lot of trouble.
She shook her head slightly, blinking her eyes slowly as she watched the flame sway back and forth at the top of his lighter. She hoped that he hadn’t caught what she had said before so she wouldn’t have to explain herself. Pressing her lips tightly together she took her cup into both her hands again and brought it to her mouth and drank just like he did; mocking him. Another habit of hers.
”Well nice to meet you mister Tarou.” The corners of her lips pulled up into a soft smile as she set the cup back down onto the table. From what she could see, his coffee was now cold. No longer did it have steam dancing over the cup like hers had. Once again, his voice pulled her from her random thoughts, her brown eyes moving up to meet his again. ”Not really… Not yet anyways. I just moved here a month ago.”
Rei took the time to study his face, his expression. She would have read his mind again to see what exactly it was he thought of her but that was no fun. She enjoyed surprises and her little mind reading trick usually destroyed the things that were meant to be unforeseen.
”How about you, mister?” Mister. That would be his name for her for now. If she found him interesting enough then perhaps she would call him by his name. Unless of course, the nicknamed irritated him.

Nearly half an hour later, Damien was finally ready to head out and meet up with his friend Tarou for coffee. He had been expecting an invite to a local bar or even a strip club for that matter but coffee? He found it a bit strange but perhaps his friend wanted a break from the constant late night drinking.
Throwing his wallet into his back pocket, Damien rushed out of his apartment and out the building, jogging all the way down the stairs. To his amazement, Tarou hadn’t called him to bitch and nag about him being late as always. He figured he must have gotten used to having to wait on his ass wherever they went even if the place they were supposed to meet at was only a block away from where he stayed.
Listening to his white Doc Martens beat against the concrete beneath them, he jogged the entire way not wanting to keep his friend waiting any longer. As he moved along, he patted the front of his jeans making sure he had his keys as well as a pack of smokes with him. The two things he found most important things to have other than his wallet of course. He was tempted to have a smoke while on his way to the café but jogging and smoking never really went hand in hand.
Finally arriving to his destination, which he almost ran right by, he grabbed hold of the door, nearly tripping over himself as he came to a stop. Taking a few moments to catch his breath, his almond eyes wandered over to the window, quickly taking notice to the young girl who sat across the table from Tarou. ”That bastard.”
Forgetting that he was even out of breath, Damien threw the glass door open roughly, causing the golden bells that hung on the inside door handle to fly about. A grand entrance was something Damien was good at. ”Hey fucker.” Not caring much on first impressions, he walked right up and smacked the back of Tarou’s head before seating himself in the chair right beside him. His eyes though, remained locked on the young woman seated across from them both.
”Who’s this? You didn’t tell me you were bringing a date.” Clumsily he extended his hand out to her, nearly knocking both their drinks off the table. ”I’m Damien, Tarou’s brother from another mother.”

Ofcourse while talking to Reina he had forgotten that he had sked Damein to hang out with him. But his lost memories all came rushing back when the door chimed again, and the infamous Damien appeared in the doorway. Another wave of humid air wafted into the cool and dry cafe. Why was London so wet? That was probably the one thing he hated about the place. Rain, mist, drizzle. It never seemed to stop.
"Oh shit.."
He rolled his shoulders forward and brought his hand to cover his face in embarassment. How could he have forgotten about inviting the devil spawn? Such a stupid mistake that he was sure he was going to regret. Ugh.. This was going to be interesting. No, much worse than interesting.
”Hey fucker.”
And so it began. Tarou was used to Damien's antics. All of his name calling and his constant badgering. It got quite annoying at times, but knowing him since his teen years, he had learned to deal with it. They had met back in Japan in a small band they were both in. After the band split the two stayed friends. Tarou didn't exactly know how Damien ended up in London though. Maybe he followed him here. Creepy.
The slap across the back of his head was unexpected, and Tarou scowled as he rubbed the sore spot tenderly "Asshole.." He mumbled and looked back to Reina. Poor girl. She probably had no idea what to expect. Though she no doubt she would like the attention was now getting.
"Her name is Reina, and she's not my girlfriend. I wouldn't bring a girlfriend knowing you can't get one. That would just be cruel." A toothy grin spread over his face and he tapped the dead ash of his cigarette into his coffee cup before pulling the cup away from Damien's arm, so the oaf didn't end up spilling it everywhere. The last thing he wanted to wear was ashes and coffee.
As he watched his friend stare at Reina the sudden urge to press the red ember to Damien's arm popped up, but he resisted it, instead leaning back in his chair and rolling his eyes. "And if I was your real brother I'm sure I'd shoot myself." he chuckled, knowing he would get either a good punch or a face from Damien. He was so predictable sometimes. "Hell, if I was related to you in any way I'd still shoot myself."
