The soft of the wind through the trees was the only thing that broke the calm silence that had settled over the meadow. Tall uncut grasses swayed to and fro, like a soft emerald ocean, bending at the wind's will. A large oak tree stood stoically in the middle of the meadow, like a silent guard. White clouds passed lazily across the powder blue sky and birds fluttered carefree upon the breeze.
It was a beautiful scene, the sun drenching the world in light; but not everything was happy and gay in the meadow.
All of a sudden a blood curlding scream ripped through the air, shattering the peaceful tranquility of the meadow. It was followed by another softer scream, then silence. Not even the wind seemed to stir anymore.
"A..Adam. I.. I loved you." The young woman's voice was hollow in pain, and her hands were dripping in blood as she covered the gashes on her stomach. "You loved him more." The man's voice was gruff as he stared down at her. "I couldn't stand to see you with him anymore. It hurt me too much." A soft thud was heard as the bloodied knife fell from his hands and hit the ground below. "You broke up with A...Adam." Her voice faltered ans she gasped in pain. The light yellow sundress she wore was stained in blood, and her blue eyes were dimming as death closed it's jaws around her. "It's for your own good Emily. This way we'll both be happy." With those words said he bent down and picked the knife up from the ground, his fingers curling around the handle. A smile tugged at his lips as the sun reflected off of the stainless steel blade. "I love you Emily." With a quick thrust of hi hands he plunged the knife deep into his chest. His jaw went slack and his eyes wide with fear. His knees wobbled and he fell onto them, his hands releasing the knife that protruded from his chest. Blood streamed from the wound, and it spilled onto the swaying grass beneath him. With a final shudder his eyes closed and he fell onto his side, landing next to his beloved emily. In the end he joined her in death, whether she wanted him to or not.
